Your Website URL | Website in URL | Website URL Search
Nine out of ten websites I look at on a weekly basis lack the proper web programming to be ranked properly by Internet search engines.
And it starts with the title of the page.
When I look at most websites, in many cases, they simply do not contain the necessary titles, descriptions, keywords and other Meta tags required to be read and indexed properly by leading search engines, nor do they include the actionable marketing copy in search results to entice customers to click through to their websites.
On other sites, I noticed that the site does have different titles but that the title are irrelevent to what the page is about, For example many page have "About" or "History" in the title.
The title plays an vital role in how the search engines index your website since it really is the first thing they read when the "spider" crawls your site.
First, the title is used by more than the search engines, resource librarians, directory editors, and other webmasters look at the titles on your page when they want to link to your page.
Wrting good title tags results in your site being reviewed faster and will be seen in a more favorable light by the editors. If you submit a page with a title like this, "Writing good title tags, HTML title Tags, title tags," then you can expect a good review as long as the page is about "title tags"
If you think about it logically the title is the first thing displayed in the search results since it is the most prominent piece of information on your web page.
Look at my example above; now put yourself in the mindset of a search engine user who is scanning the search results. If you see a title like the one above, you would know that that page is about titles.
Next the title is displayed by the visitor's browser often in the border of the viewable screen. This provides an anchor so that the search engine visitor knows where he or she has landed on your website. For this reason, titles need to relevent to their page.
Finally and most importantly, the title is the first thing the search engine index and is the single most important piece of information available in order to help them determine the subject matter on your page, and thus to determine the ranking of your page in their search results.
