First Time Website

 

If you are building your first website, the first thing you need to do is get a website address (domain name). That would be something like www.yourcompany.com. My partner company www.thecybercom.com will be happy to do that for you.

 

When selecting a domain name it's important to understand that your domain name is the first thing the search engines use to index your website. Therefore it's important to have a domain name that is relative to you or your business. For example if you are a professional services provider your name might be a good idea for a domain name i.e www.patrickfbruce.com

The other thing that I strongly recommend is to synchronize your website to your financial statement, that way you will be able to measure the effectiveness of your site as it grows

 

What is The Purpose of Your Website

  • Reduce Cost?

There are two reasons companies build websites; you are either trying to increase revenues, or you are trying to reduce your cost.

 

That's it, there can be no other reason why you would want a website. Some people claim they just want a site for vanity purposes and if that is the case they don't want a website they want to learn social media. Facebook will give you a vanity site for free.

 

When building your first website, you should consider;

  • A Financial Statement Review (where should you focus your visitors attention)
  • Website Profit Engineering, (how to use your site to increase profits)
  • The difference between a website and Internet Marketing (huge)
  • The Technology that your site resides on (the search engines must be able to read it)
  • How are you going to deal with the increase in business (if you don't believe you are going to generate more business / or lower business costs why build a site at all)
  • How can you use your website to reduce costs associated with your business (i.e. Yellow Pages, Printing Brochures etc.)
