To really understand search engine marketing you must first understand basic marketing principals. Having a website for website sake is useless to a marketing person.

Your website must have a purpose for being.

The most important part of a website is letting people "know" what you know therefore it's not about hiring someone to "optimize" your website. It's really more about having someone teach you how to do it yourself.

That's what I do.

The value of being found on the search engines is to demonstrate to your audience that you know what you are talking about. Not to influence them with how good your "creative eye" is.

Do you really care if my website is "pretty" - seriously this website is not going to win any awards for creativity. (In fact my biggest complaint from my friends is 'watch your grammar and spelling).

My business is not grammar, my business is teaching people how to make money, and I encourage them to use the internet because it's the most cost effective tool that any business owner has at his disposal if you know how to use it right.
